Let's have another awesome, happy week here in Orange County! Sushi World is here to help you kick off the week right with our Happy Hour all day on Mondays & Tuesdays where you can enjoy $2.50 sushi (for 2 pieces) with 8 varieties to choose from including the pictured salmon, yellowtail, peppered salmon, and escolar. And if discounted sushi isn't enough, we actually have quiet a bit more on our HH menu, like $3.5 appetizers (10 to choose from), $2.5 sake, and $10 Sapporo pitchers. Yep, plenty on the HH menu to keep you happy for the rest of the week.
Sushi World has been fortunate enough to acquire a 170 lb Bluefin Tuna and we want to share it with you! While supplies last (170 lbs of it!), we are offering Bluefin Tuna sushi for $4 and sashimi for $9. Bluefin Toro is $8 for sushi and $18 for sashimi. What's the difference between the two? Well, we're glad you asked. Bluefin Toro is the fatty tuna that comes from the belly portion of the fish. It's obviously more expensive because there's less of it and it's just so darned delicious. It's like butter. But fish. And good for you. We highly recommend you try it if you haven't before.
If you haven't tried one of our newest appetizers, you're truly missing out. It's Fried Aji, which is a Japanese Mackerel. We bread it, fry it to perfection, and serve it with a sauce of your choice. We drizzle it with our thick ponzu sauce in the picture but we serve it normally without it. What makes it even more awesome is that it's on our already long list of available appetizers (10 to choose from!) for happy hour at only $3.50 each! Happy Hour is all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and on all other weekdays from 2pm till 5pm.
While it's not always on our Specials Board, you should try to order it whenever you do see Mackerel on there. Also known as Saba, Mackerel is very distinctive in its appearance thanks to its shiny skin. It's not for everyone, as there might be a fishy aftertaste that many sushi novices aren't used to. But if you have had it and have enjoyed it, you will also reap the benefits of it being a very healthy fish to eat as it is very high in fish oils, like Omega 3, which is why it is so shiny in the first place.
Our Bentley Roll sounds fancy because it is! It features a center of spicy tuna and is topped with seared salmon. It also has cucumber and is dressed with a sesame dressing and a sweet sauce. Looks good and tastes great! We're probably the only sushi restaurant who takes the time to break down their sushi rolls in such a way. We're not scared of you stealing our recipes. Go ahead and try to make them yourself. Yeah, it's much harder than it appears. Leave it to the professionals: our sushi chefs. ;-)
Yes, our Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes are on our happy hour menu for $4. It features crispy, fried rice cakes topped with spicy tuna, serrano peppers, and our very own poke sauce. We also have a Smoked Albacore Hand Roll, a California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, and our Salmon Skin Roll, all for $4 each on our Happy Hour Menu. That is all in addition to our $2.50 sushi, $3.50 appetizers, $2.50 sake, and $10 Sapporo pitchers.
Made with big eye tuna and albacore, our awesome poke will blow your mind! We stole the recipe directly from Hawaii so you know it's legit! Also features avocado, gobo, marinated seaweed, and a poke dressing. It's actually a pretty healthy serving so sharing it with another person is highly recommended. It's kinda like a delicious fish meat salad. If you've never had it, especially at our place, you should try it out today. Available all day, lunch and dinner. If we could, we'd have it for breakfast!
We most definitely have the best Happy Hour in Orange County with our $2.50 sushi which includes albacore, peppered salmon, yellowtail, salmon, masago, escolar, natto, and shrimp. And that's for 2 pieces of sushi per order, so that comes out to $1.25 per piece of sushi. And then we have $3.50 appetizers with 10 different items to choose from, including the pictured spicy garlic edamame and our baked mussels. And to drink, you have $2.50 sake, $2.50 pints of Sapporo, and $10 Sapporo pitchers. Yep, enough food and drink for a complete meal every time.
Continuing with our series of awesome bowls, especially for lunch, our Poke Bowl never disappoints! Great to have during lunch or dinner, our poke bowl will always hit the spot, especially if you don't have the time to sit down for a long spell at our sushi bar. It's got a little bit of everything in it: tuna, albacore, masago, tamago, and a bunch of other goodies that make this bowl absolutely perfect. And of course, it's dressed with our very own Hawaiian Poke dressing and it all sits on a bed of our sushi-grade rice.
If you sit at our sushi bar, you're guaranteed a spot to interact with our awesome sushi chefs. Don't worry if you're a bit shy or unsure of what you want. Our sushi chefs will surely be gentle and considerate of your needs. They'll work on your comfort level surely and steadily so that on your subsequent visits, you'll be a master at conveying what exactly you want and how you want it. Nigiri, sashimi, soy paper, no wasabi, a brush of soy sauce, fresh wasabi... whatever you want and however you want it, our sushi chefs will always be more than willing to accommodate.
Unagi is eel baked in a sweet soy sauce. For some who are still wary of eating raw fish, we have this bowl to fulfill your needs. It's quite simple and consists of generous portions of Unagi, Tamago (Japanese egg cake), vegetables, and of course, rice on the bottom. It's a simple, ideal lunch that will truly fill you up. It's full of flavor and perfect for lunch but you can also have it for dinner. Many who especially enjoy Unagi sushi will absolutely love this bowl. And of course, we have other bowls to enjoy, like our Chirashi Bowl, Poke Bowl, and our Negitoro Bowl.
Chirashi is the best, quick lunch you can possibly have. You get so much fish and it's so filling. And, it's so delicious, too. For $15.95, you get tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, salmon sashimi, albacore sashimi, red snapper sashimi, shrimp, tamago, and spicy tuna all in a bowl with some rice. It is a pretty complete meal. And you need to have a good lunch every once in a while. You can also get our awesome chirashi bowl to go. Just order it ahead of time and our expert sushi chefs will gladly put it all together for you. It's like a little work of art in a box. That you can eat.
We hope everyone has a fun-filled and safe 4th of July holiday weekend. If you're driving anywhere, please drive carefully. We know everyone enjoys barbecuing and sushi is not always very popular on the 4th, so we'll be closed on Tuesday for the 4th of July. Our employees could also use the break! But, we are open on Monday and we do have Happy Hour all day where you can take advantage of our $2.50 sushi, $2.50 sake, $3.50 appetizers, and $10 Sapporo pitchers. Come on in the day before the 4th because we know you're not going to go to work any way ;-).
Hand rolls are for selfish people like you. They're made for one person and you get to hold it and eat it all by yourself. It's kinda weird and awkward to share a hand roll. Our Hand Rolls are made to order and can pretty much consist of anything you can think of. If you can especially get it as a sushi roll, we can make a hand roll version of it. We also can use a soy paper instead of seaweed paper for any hand roll.
Our Yummy Roll actually makes both your tummy and your mouth happy. Here's why are Yummy Roll deserves its name: It's a California Roll that's been suped up on flavor steroids. So we take a basic California Roll (snow crab mix, avocado, cucumber center) and top it with escolar, a lemon slice, a serrano pepper slice, a dab of sriracha, sesame seeds, and then dressed with a soy mustard dressing. Absolutely deserves its name in spades. It is the newest sushi roll added to our extensive sushi roll list and it's quite unique. Swing on by and give it a try on your next visit.
Acquired from sustainable farms, our Bluefin Tuna is always in limited supply so if you see it on our Specials Board, be sure to order it! You can get it sushi, or like in this picture, sashimi-style, which we serve with fresh shredded radish and fresh chopped wasabi. It's always great to get it as a sashimi when you're trying to watch your carb intake. We usually don't dip it in soy sauce. We take a little bit of the fresh chopped wasabi, put it on a slice of Bluefin tuna, and eat it just like that. Simple and quite delicious. Goes great with just about any sake we have in stock.
Well, it's the beginning of another week and it's time for Happy Hour all day Mondays & Tuesdays again! $3.50 appetizers which includes spicy garlic edamame, baked mussels, beef kushiyaki, chicken yakitori, beef tataki, jalapeno poppers, shishito peppers, and chicken gyoza. That's quite a selection! On top of that, we also have $2.50 sushi, $2.50 sake, and $10 Sapporo pitchers! You can't go wrong at Orange County's best happy hour spot. Yeah, we said it. There's no doubt. Oh, and we can make the edamame non-spicy upon request.
One of the most popular sakes out there right now is Kikusui Junmai Ginjo. It's brewed with rice, water, and yeast out of Niigata-ken and is considered a dry sake. It's also called, "Chrysanthemum Water." We have heard from several customers that they notice hints of cantaloupe with a slight banana aroma in this sake Or maybe, you might taste something different? If so, we'd love to hear about it! It goes great with all kinds of sushi so it's a great one to get in general. We always have both a small bottle and a large bottle chilled and ready to serve.
Our Chicken Teriyaki Bento Boxes are only available during lunch and they're awesome! You have the choice of dining in or taking out. Doesn't matter because either way, it's delicious! Each bento box comes with 2 pieces of shrimp tempura, 3 pieces of vegetable tempura, miso soup, and a bowl of rice. Our Bento Box #1 comes with Spicy Tuna Roll or California Roll and it's only $9.95. Our Bento Box #2 comes with 1 sushi piece of each: tuna, albacore, salmon, and shrimp. It costs $11.95. Our 3rd Bento Box comes with 2 sashimi pieces of tuna, albacore, and salmon. It's priced at $14.95.
There's no doubt our sushi bar is always happy during our Happy Hour, which is all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and on all other weekdays from 2pm till 5pm. Our chefs love taking care of our customers and it shows. Our customers love it too, especially if they're paying for $2.50 sushi (for 2 pieces, 8 to choose from), $3.50 appetizers (over 10 to choose from), $2.50 sake, and $10 Sapporo pitchers. And there are still other items on our HH menu to make you happy. We want you to start ever week off right: happy. What's the point to life if you're not happy?
We can read all father's minds for Father's Day. All they want is sushi, sake, and for everyone to leave them alone. Yeah, that's pretty accurate. Fathers don't want to celebrate anything. They just want to eat, drink, and to be left alone. It's kinda funny that Father's Day lands on the calendar when there's not much sports going on. Yes, there's baseball but there's no football, basketball, or even hockey. It would be awesome if Father's Day was just a little earlier in the year.
Every Monday and Tuesday, you should come into Sushi World just to have a pitcher. It's only $10 all day on both days. Why? Because it's our Happy Hour. And what better way to get happy than with a $10 Sapporo pitcher. After you're all lubricated, you might as well order some $2.50 sushi, $3.50 appetizers, and a bunch of other specials on our HH menu. And yes, there are plenty of items to choose from. And if you need even more alcoholic lubrication, there's always $2.50 sake.
Do you like Spicy Scallops, Tuna, and Albacore? Well, you're in luck. Have we got a sushi roll for you. We call it the Three Amigos Roll because they truly all are friends with one another. We take a spicy scallops sushi roll, top it with avocado, tuna, and albacore, and then dress it with poke sauce and scallions. There's so many complimenting flavors, it's ridiculous. And no, you don't need two other friends to enjoy this roll. Just get it. You won't regret it. And if you'd like a customized sushi roll not on our menu, feel free to suggest it to our sushi chefs.
Yep, we're in June already. How's the beach body coming along? We thought so. Luckily for you, we have some no carb options for ya. Two of our favorite items on the menu are Salmon Carpaccio and Jalapeno Yellowtail. As you can see, both clearly have no rice in them but are definitely full of flavor. Our Salmon Carpaccio consists of salmon sashimi slices and dressed with our own ponzu sauce with sesame seeds, green onions, and red onions.
We did an anime night last year and it was fun. We'd love to do it again! We're just putting it out there but if anyone is interested, we would love to host another one. Come dressed up in your favorite anime outfit and we will reward you with something nice. Best costume of the night will win something even nicer. And if we get enough input, we can play an anime movie or show on the tvs. We will open it up to everyone's suggestions. Sushi, sake, and some anime fun sounds like a pretty awesome night. Let us know what y'all think and we'll put it together.
We can't seem to eat sushi without sake. It's like a habit instilled in us as kids. Um, that doesn't sound right. Oh well. Yes, we love sake. And there are so many varying types now it makes it fun to try them all out. Our top 4 sake are Shirakabe Gura, Kiku-Masamune Taru, Kikusui, and Kurosawa. Have you had the privilege of trying out all of them? You could have, if you had attended one of our sake tastings. In any case, if you would like to find out more about any particular brand, please feel free to ask us or your server when you come on in.
We like to drop a little sushi knowledge every now and then because we feel it's necessary so that you know what you're eating and you get what you want. We have often received questions about the difference between these two and here it is. They are both roes, or the eggs of fish. Masago, is much smaller and it makes sense, because they come from small fish. Ikura is generally Salmon roe, because they are a bigger fish and therefore, produce bigger eggs. Because Masago is much smaller, it's kinda crunchy when you bite into them.
