We love Spanish Tapas and we realize why. Essentially, sushi is much like the Japanese version of the Spanish Tapas: small, tasty bites eaten with an alcoholic beverage. Every time you take a seat at our sushi bar, it's much like getting Tapas. You pick whatever you wish, like the lineup in the picture of Tako (Octopus), Hotategai (Jumbo Scallops), Tai (Red Snapper), and Cherry Salmon. And then, of course, be sure to have some beer or sake to help wash it all down and clean your palette for the next tasty morsel. Yep, we've got Tapas.
Yikes! Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Have you made plans yet? We get pretty busy on Valentine's Day so if you're planning to have a Sushi Date Night at our place, please call us to make reservations as soon as possible. We will be posting about our Valentine's prix-fixe menu soon but in the mean time, you can really come by any night for a date night at Sushi World and simply get a platter like this one, featuring our Bluefin Tuna, Hotategai (Jumbo Scallops), Salmon, Red Snapper, Yellowtail Belly, and Yellowtail. Yum.
A very common item on our specials board is our Hotategai, better known as Jumbo Scallops. If you do come in and see it on there, be sure to order at least one serving. It's definitely a different texture and taste from regular fish sushi. If you are familiar with cooked Scallops, raw Hotategai has the same texture except that it might be a bit softer. And its flavor is very refreshing and feels more meaty than your typical raw fish sushi.
